We are Making the Difference

Things many of us take for granted—a shower before going to work, a place for our children to do homework, a safe spot to keep our belongings—simply do not exist when you don’t have a home of your own.

Homeward Trust aims to change this reality. We’re opening doors and building hope for thousands of Edmontonians, ultimately realizing our city’s shared goal of ending homelessness.

  • 1752 Edmontonians identified in the 2016 Homeless Count without a home: 43% reduction since 2008; 24% reduction since 2014
  • 1611 people housed and supported in 2015, the most in one year
  • Over 80% of people in Housing First programs live in market rental units (private landlords)
  • 212 families housed and supported through Urgent Families Initiative
  • 6,000+ people housed and supported since 2009
  • 81% of people in our programs remain housed after 12 months
  • 90% of people in Intensive Case Management and Rapid Re-Housing programs remained housed after 12 months in 2016.
  • Youth Housing First (an initiative launched in July 2016) received 97 referrals in the first few months; 46 youth housed so far.
